Acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker, producer, and director Steven Spielberg has recently announced to the public that he will begin shooting his film about Abraham Lincoln in Virginia very soon. His project starring Daniel Day-Lewis has ben in development for many years.
During an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Spielberg explains his choice of shooting in Richmond, VA. “A lot of the buildings there, government buildings, look like Washington looked back during the Civil War,” he said.
The film will not be centered around the war/battlefield during this time. Spielberg explained that he will be showcasing Lincoln in the last few months of his life.
“The movie will be purposely coming out after next year’s election. I didn’t want it to become political fodder,” Spielberg added.
